The Company Torino Renato, owner of the Trade Mark Faicom, is a leader in the construction of professional tooling for the distribution of fluids, such as air, water, oil, gas oil and grease. Faicom products can be used in many industrial concerns, such as motor vehicles for instance, agricultural businesses, petrol and chemical enterprises and any other activity requiring fluid transfer. Renato Torino is located in the Province of Cuneo, half way between Turin and Nizza, where, in 1979, a small artisan shop started producing air compressors and driers, an activity that went on for over two decades. This was the birth of the Trade Mark Faicom, standing for Italian Compressor Manufacturer. 1986 was when the Company changed and started manufacturing its first automatic tube winder. The Company grew considerably during the following years in its technological and automation levels and created the bases for manufacturing all-new products. The Company’s objective became to achieve increasingly higher productivity levels based on product quality and reliability. Research for innovative solutions and attention to User needs meant the Faicom range grew and evolved all the time. Torino Renato, now renowned worldwide for its product quality level, operates an outstanding Sales Department with Importers and Distributors in all continents.
 Previous Situation
An installation consisting of 2 metal cabs with 6 automatic guns and 1 manual gun each, as required by 2 hour colour changes.
 Present Situation
The ColorMax3 system is the most recent development in Nordson’s long history of innovations introduced to facilitate and speed up colour changes. Made entirely of patented outstanding dielectric composite materials, the cab features a cleaning system with intermittent air sprays tot keep wall and floor areas where the collection outlet is located clean all the time. Colour can be changed in 5 to 8 minutes. All applications, conveyor speed, reciprocator travel, electrostatic load adjustment, air delivery to guns and supply on/off management is monitored by the control system that uses a touch screen to programme application parameters, including digital valve control, present programme selection and detection of any defect. Powder colour transfer from the cyclone to the colour centre is by means of an innovative High Density Low Volume HDLV technology using a reduced amount of air to keep powder grain features unchanged. HDLV dense-phase power transfer pumps eliminate the need for Venturi units and minimise wear thanks to lower air speed. They also enable faster colour changes as the pumps are self-cleaning and require no removal. Another important feature of the plant installed at Faicom is the fine powder filtre at the outlet of which absolute filtres are located to allow air to enter the department without having to convey it to the outside. The entire system was designed and built in full compliance with ATEX regulations: the cab contains fire start or spark sensors and, where necessary, an automatic system located at the filter entry would input carbon dioxide to prevent any possible combustion.
