SEVEL

New paint shop at the Sevel Factory of Val Di Sangro. In December 2003 GL Finishing acquired from FIAT’s main contractor Geico SpA for the Sevel project at Val di Sangro. The plant was to produce 1200 commercial vehicles a day.
GL Finishing was contracted to manage:
• Paint feeding
• Sealant and PVC feeding
• Circulator and air conditioning plant setup
• Paint application station setup
• Sealant and PVC application station setup
 Previous Situation
Supervision
To complete the paint area, GL Finishing added an industrial PC to supervise the entire system and thereby monitor product consumption, tank levels, loading operations, anomalies and prevent possible errors and production down time. All this is managed by a programme, customer made for Sevel.

Circulators and air conditioning
Variable diameter stainless steel piping circulators for all paint, PVC and sealant products, automatic and manual station feeding for paints, PVC and sealants, compressed air distribution and air conditioning of paint circulators were provided directly by GL Finishing.
 Present Situation
Application
Application of paints, sealants and PVC at the automatic and manual stations was managed directly by GL Finishing. In the automatic painting stations (Cf. bottom picture on the left) and the sealant station (Cf. picture on the right), GL Finishing operated jointly with the Company ABB that supplied the robots. Sealant management was with 1000-kilo ram directly on the line, with re-launch benches for feeding the various users. Manual sealant and PVC application was managed directly by GL Finishing that completed manual stations with a delivery control pump, flex tubing and a dedicated nozzle extrusion gun. Manual application of 2k paints, washing and colour change operations were managed directly by GL Finishing with the use of a management PLC (on the left), electronic mixing systems (in the centre) and fast wash cloaks (on the right).
